Al Berard (the late father of Laura Huval and Maegan Berard, and uncle of Callie Guidry) passed away in 2014 due to a sudden illness. The Berard family quickly started the The Al Berard Memorial Music Fund, a fund at Community Foundation of Acadiana, which promotes Acadiana's unique musical culture by providing instruments, master teachers, and music scholarships to students of all ages. Al Berard, a Grammy nominated musician, was a pillar of his community and mentor for music lovers everywhere. His passion was to teach everyone he met about his love for music and for the Cajun/Creole culture.
Al Berard Memorial Music Fund, a fund of Community Foundation of Acadiana, supports community organizations who promote our rich Cajun/Creole heritage, arts, music, and French language. Your generous contribution provides instruments to students, funds the placement of master teachers and offers music scholarships to students of all ages in Acadiana.
