Femme II

Acadiana Center for the Arts, 101 W. Vermilion St., Lafayette, LA

Led by guest curator and renowned vocalist Anna Laura Edmiston with director and collaborator Lian Cheramie of Cajun Face, this performance is a follow up to Femme, a celebration of women in Acadiana music, which took place in 2018 as part of the Louisiana Crossroads series.

Femme II will feature a whole new cast of women in South Louisiana through a chronological lens and a thematic of the natural elements earth, wind, fire, and water. Performers from various musical genres and artistic disciplines will gather in this iridescent collage of artistry and music.

Dustin Dale Gaspard hails from the rural southern community of Cow Island, Louisiana. From the Cajun country kitchen, greased by maw’s fryer, all the way to muddy marsh landscapes on the banks of the mossy canals, Dustin Dale Gaspard‘s debut Hoping Heaven Got a Kitchen is a prayer to the memory of his grandmother and grandfather.

The Grammy Nominated band, Sweet Cecilia, a family trio from Cecilia, LA, will be opening.
